4 People Rescued From Windows With Ladders In Serious South Jersey Apartment House Blaze: FD

UPDATED: Firefighters rescued four people in a serious Cumberland County apartment house fire, authorities said.

The two-alarm fire broke out shortly after midnight on Monday, April 4 at 114 N. High St. in Millville.

The three-story building includes commercial space on the ground floor.

Millville firefighters said they encountered heavy fire conditions in the third-floor hallway and occupants in the windows. 

"While a crew initiated an aggressive interior attack under punishing heat and smoke conditions a second crew rescued the 4 civilians via ladders," the fire department reported. 

Earlie, a fire in a two-story home broke out at about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 3 at 2388 Washington Ave. in Vineland, initial reports said. There were no reports of injuries.

Vineland firefighters were back to work early Monday, April 4 when a fire broke out on a 1.5-story brick building. That fire was reported at 733 N Brewster Road.
